Using R410A In Low -Temp Applications-Why isn't it used?

$

r410a A/C applications are very common. You will even find R410A in some Medium Temp applications, but neither Copeland or Tecumseh show compressors for Low-temp using r410A.
Found the following paper showing benefits of using r410a vs r404a for low temp: https://www.ideals.illinois.edu/handle/2142/24063.

Would love to know the answer to this, and I can't figure it out. Thank you!

Installing new through wall air conditioner

Hello,

I recently purchased the Frigidaire FFTA1033Q1 through-wall air conditioner to replace my current older Frigidaire model. The older model was already in my apartment from the previous owner. Both models have the same exact dimensions. The sleeve was constructed to fit the unit very tightly with little to no room to give. Once the current unit was removed, I carefully slid the new unit into the existing sleeve. However, with all my effort of pushing the unit in, there is still a 2-inch gap between the rear of the unit and the grille. Will this pose any issues with the functionality of the air conditioner? Will this cause any overheating issues/damages and/or leakage of water from condensation? I really appreciate any input in this issue. Thanks in advance.

Hey guys! I need some help from you. There is a constant error in my Kerstner C103E freezer unit. I've already changed brushes. I called service but they want tons of money just for deleting this error so I'd like to ask you for some help. Maybe you know how to remove it? Some manuals, codes, tips how to enter service mode.

Many thanks
Regards :)

F Gas Regs and understanding them?

Hi Guys!
One for the trainers I suspect?
If a piece of kit fails and releases an amount of refrigerant.
At what point is the release notifiable?
Meaning bad practices etc. are reportable, is it necessary to report a loss of refrigerant from a system? If so at what amount does it become necessary.
I have several customers with exceptional questioning attitudes, particularly where environmental issues are concerned.
I was asked is a leak reportable and if so what size?
I did not know, hence the question!
Thanks Grizzly

Hi Gents,

Just had a client of mine, was commissioning a new machine, and somehow missed that the Copeland scroll was running backwards (something he will not do again) It ran for about 30mins, then i presume went on on internal overload (from the description given).
So my question is, have he damaged the compressor in the medium to long term (the comp did re-start the next day)

thanks Mad

Mitsubishi 'UF' fault code

I have been working on a Mitsubishi PUHZ-RP125YHA2 cassette system today, original fault on the unit was a P5 fault which I traced to a blocked drain and very dirty tank pump. Cleared the problem which seemed to clear the P5 fault, when the unit seemed to be running ok I checked on it before leaving site and the fault had switched to a UF fault.

I know that this has something to do with compressor overcurrent/compressor lock, the unit seemed to run fine after the drain was cleared. I isolated the indoor unit by the isolator on the unit and when I switched it back on it came up with E9 I think which was communication between indoor and out door. I couldn't get this fault to clear so isolated both units by their isolators, switched on outdoor then indoor and that fault cleared and unit seemed ok but then decided to through up this UF fault.

I have checked the outdoor unit and watched it try and run but the compressor seems to try and run then shuts down again either as if trying to switch to run but cant or there isn't enough power feeding the compressor so it is shutting itself down.

I don't work too much with Mitsubishis of this type so am a bit stumped, could just do with some ideas of what to look for etc. I have tested terminals on the compressor and they all look good but with there being like 4 boards on the unit and no wiring diagram it would be great to have an idea of what could be causing the compressor to run intermittently like it is doing.

I have also tested one of the capacitors (which tests good) but am unable to get to the two in behind the vertical control board to test those as I thought it could be one of them not supply enough of a kick??

The article on the link above changes the future of our trade. Who thought that these refrigerants including R134a would ever be labeled unacceptable? Is this another reap out ochestrated by the large corporation for them to cash out on retrofits? Where does this leave us as refrigeration engineers? New type of gauges, new pipe types, new tools, new oils, the list is long all to suite the new replacement refrigerants. lets hear your opinions gentlemen of the trade.
