Hello. Please help

Hi everyone, I'm on here in the hope someone can give me some advice.

I'm starting a new takeaway business in my town but having trouble with my walk in chiller. Previous occupants were using okay apparently.

It's a Thermomax Coltrec RCX 100.
Can't get it to cool down. Sits at 15℃, when the temp starts to drop then the fan cuts off.. temp then rises again.
I'm not familiar with the operation of this unit..

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Daikin fan motor testing

Hi everyone,
I have been attending alot of u4 faults on daikin inverter systems and all of them (about 20 now) have blown the inverter board from the fan motor. The problem I have is when I get on site with this fault code and the inverter is dead I just meter out the compressor and then cange the fan motor and inverter and bingo it all works. I don't know if my fault procedure is correct but it seems to work until I come across a twin blower when I just replace both so my question is how does anyone meter these motors out when it is impossible to get your multimeter into the pinholes on the plug daikin just say I get what u mean but here are the resistance readings anyway. I tried chopping the leads once but the wires were so thin the results were inconclusive.

Dixell XR60CX. Wine kegorator override

Hello all,
Total novice here so please speak slowly. I am converting a micromatic wine kegorator to a 4 tap beer kegorator for my home brew. It is dual chamber for both red and white wine. Each chamber has the Dixell XR60XC digital temp controller, but they only go down to 40 and 54 degrees.
I have found a manual online and can access the the second hidden menu to lower the lower limit temp setting.

http://Www.mtlcool.com/docs/dixel_xr...ser_manual.pdf

Section 7 low set point

It seems it takes the lower temp when I enter it but the temperature never gets close to the 35 degrees I set it at. It actually doesn't seem to move at all.

Any ideas if I may be using the wrong setting or if this is just a limitation of the controller and/or condenser?

Any other ideas on how to achieve the desired temperature if this method won't work?

Thank you in advance!
Rob

2nd year apprentice charging question

Hello and thank you for your time. I am a 2nd year apprentice from Aus and wanted to ask something thats been bothering me and none of the tradies at work have provided a good answer. How do I know how much gas I should be charging into a system? The tradies just say to keep slugging liquid until the sightglass seems full but i want to understand what im actually doing with the system. What should my gauges read and how do i know that my gauge readings are "correct" if i can see a full sightglass? What is a "correct" gauge reading for an underbench, a coolroom, a freezerroom etc and how can i learn to apprehend the differences quickly and independently using my brain and not a cheat sheet?

Also, what exactly is Temperature Difference, it's importance and how is it established? Is it a feature of design? If so, how can I apprehend that using information from the system I'm looking at?

Thank you. I really dont want to be stuck scratching my head when the boss eventually puts me out on the road so as much good, clear info you can give me the better. TAFE isnt much help either :S

Daikon Ftk25jv1nb fault.

Hi, I am new to this forum and I would appreciate it if someone out there can help me.
I have a Daikon Ftk25jv1nb Air Conditioning unit displaying a fault as follow:
1) If I switch the it on, it works perfectly, but only for 10 minutes or so. After that the green power light starts flashing and the unit stops blowing and vents close.
2) If I switch unit off and back on, there is no change, it's green power light continues flashing but the unit does not function.
3) However, If I switch off at the main circuit breaker, wait 30 second and switch on, it will function again, perfectly, for 10 mins or so as per item 1) above, then it stops again.
4) I have done Fault Diagnosis on my remote controller and it indicates fault H8 (CT abnormality) on outside unit is the problem. I have 2 indoor units and both perform the same way.
5) Because of where the outside unit is located, it needs a special high rise platform to get to.
Could someone out there please help. Before I bring in the heavy squad I would like to know how serious this is and what is causing this problem.
Please help, thanks in advance.
Mick.

Back pressure regulating valve

Hi,

In a NH3 process refrigeration plant, I need to regulate a BPRV that is not doing it's job. It is intended to maintain the evaporating pressure constant but it is variating according to the compressor suction pressure. The valve is 6" and the photo is:
bprv unibev can 2.jpg
Any one recognizes this kind of valve? I need to know the reference or manufacturer so that I can search for the manual, but in the body or the documentation available nothing exists.

Thank you in advance for any information.

Best regards, Carlos

Solenoid Valve on suction side of Evoperator

Hi

After building condenser myself which is working very good for me, I planned further to automate system.

For that I need solenoid valve to be installed just before expansion valve of Evaporator to control room temperature. (Currently we are doing manually by looking at temperature gauges)

Please suggest me which solenoid valve would do best for me.

My system is Ammonia R717, I am using KC compressor giving me about 285 KW, and I have 7 units of Evaporator each around 76 KW

Does anybody knows were I can find the enthalpy juice in those conditions?

screw compressor & motor bases should they be machined?

Question about compressor & motor feet, should their mounting pads on base be machined, or as long as they are reasonably flat.
This would be a direct drive application with open drive coupling, no bell housing.
What would be a minimum acceptable standard, remembering alignment has to be carried out to a high standard.

Client's requiring 2 or more quotes for work to be carried out

Interested in opinions on quoting work for regular client's

Say company I work for quotes work for a client.
Client gets other quotes & my company cheaper on a number of occasions & always given value for money.
Client thinks he should share a bit as oppositions say why should we quote, we never win any job!

OK I understand, so why should we try so hard in the future, as cheapest price not always a winner.
I also know you can't win them all.

Also who has ownership of his plant?

LG Minisplit MOSFET problems

$

I have an LG minisplit. The main controller board in the outside unit has MOSFETs (2SC2333) TO-220 that are going bad. The unit has been in service for about 7 years and now this is a regular problem. Apparently in my opinion the 310V DC bus is getting hammered.

It is a mini split with 2 indoor units above doors.

I have a manual from LG (PDF)

Multi Type Air Conditioner
SERVICE MANUAL
• Outdoor Unit: A2UH243FA0(LMU240HE)

There is another small PC board that has the mains fuse which blows and what looks like chokes and MOVs for power conditioning. I suspect that one of the MOVs has failed but cannot see a VISIBLE failure on that board. The LG schematics are helpful but DO NOT layout whats on the power supply (filtering?) PC Board.

My first fix replaced one of (2) MOSFETS (2SC2333) lasted 2 weeks then replaced the other one and it lasted just 12 hours and died during a nearby T-Storm.

Obviously I can keep stuffing 2SC2333's but its a real hassle. I haven't found the CAUSE of the problem. Anyone else have this problem?
