Hi guys (and gurls;))!

I have one of old R22 VRV II units (made in 1996) to maintain, and I need service manual for reference (and to know how to start test mode):D!

Model in question is outdoor unit RSXY8HJ7W1 and some indoor units are BYBS32DJW1

If anyone can help with these manuals, i would appreciate!

Help With Heat Pump Size Please.

Hello. I am making a gas generation plant on my farm and I would be very pleased if you can help me with making a heat pump the correct size.

I have made a round concrete tank in the ground that is diameter 4m and height 3m that will be full of liquid food waste. I need to heat the contents to 40 degrees celsius by use of a heat pump with a heat exchanger in the tank. The decomposing of the waste is exothermic and will require very little heat input once the process is started but I require the heat pump to be capable of making the initial heating during start up.

The tank is constructed of 250mm thickness 25MPa concrete and the surrounding ground is sandy and quite waterlogged in winter especially. The ground temperature I measured today (after a cold weekend) at 1 meter deepth is 13 degrees C, last week the same measurement was 17 degrees C.

I need to be able to raise the contents of the tank (approx 30 cubic meters) to 40 C in around 24 hours. I can calculate how much heat would be required to do this but I do not have any reference material to give me figures on expected heat losses through the tank itself. Are there standard figures available to work with or accepted ways of assessing these losses?

Hello all,
I am looking for a service manual for a Kelvinator/Electrolux ESE21HRA split heat pump.
The manufacturer seems to be very protective of their product and will not provide information.
The owner is not in a position to replace the unit.
I am hoping somewhere within this forum there is an agent out there willing to share.
Thanks in advance.

Refrigeration system calculations

Hello everybody,

I'm from Lithuania working in AHU's manufacture company and i'm quite new here. My company hired me for cooling block project (refrigeration system: evaporator, compressor, condenser, exv and so on) concept creation. Block is capable of cooling and heating (4way valve). I've been looking, collecting for any information through the internet for quite long time (nearly year), most of the time it redirects me to this forum. I've got a few question for You and I hope You could provide me answers.

I'm going to share you by the whole selection process that I'm doing and then provide questions (where the information is false, please correct me :)).

From the clients, we've got request where's the main information like this:
pvz.jpg

Here's the main information like air flow, temperatures-humidities in-out at sumer and winter periods and desired temperatures (for cooling and heating periods).

The whole selection process is made in such way:
1. Our coils provider has a coil selection program, where you input information (temperatures in-out, humidity and so on) and get evaporator with cooling capacity by clients demand (desired temperature).
2. By evaporator cooling capacity i'm picking up compressor.
3. Like in first step, i'm using the same program for condenser selection, where cooling capacity + compressor power input = condenser capacity.

Everything is ok for cooling process, but when it comes to heating I face the problem. When 4way valve reverses into heating process evaporator becomes condenser and condenser becomes evaporator. The problem is that, that selected equipment don't ensure client heating demand.
I think that the problem is that there's too large temperature difference (in cooling and heating season), by that reason selected equipment couldn't ensure correct demands. I think, that to solve such problem I need to put additional heater or cooler (it depends which demand conditions isn't achieved). If I'm wrong please correct me, because otherwise I don't know how to find that balance point between those two processes).

I'm also reached the conclusion (I think so), that calculations that I'm making is wrong, because I'm starting to picking equipment from cooling. It's bad because I don't evaluate cooling and heating demands. I think I should do that, because which demand is bigger, that would be the starting point and the second process - subordinate. Am I right?

In internet there's a lot of information for cooling, heating loads for buildings, but that information is inadequate for me, because from client I get such form with air flow, in-out temperatures, humidities and so on. I think I should calculate those loads by calculating enthalpies difference, am I correct? Could you provide formulas?

For example, I'm determine loads and the cooling process is for primary (cooling capacity > heating capacity). Is it possible to determine correct evaporating, condensing temperatures by some charts? If not, maybe there's main components check points (like for picking correct condenser, I've found that, condensing and condensers outlet temperatures difference should be about 3 - 5 K, if it's higher or lower - wrong)?

Sorry guys for such large post, but I walked to impasse and now I need your help. Thank you for your answers in advance.

Toyota Corolla 1984 - R12 system troubleshooting

I recently worked on a toyota corolla 1984

it has an R12 system

items installed brand new:
1 - compressor
2 - serpentine condenser
3 - DENSO TXV
4 - new suction, discharge and liquid lines.
5 - receiver drier

added in around 760-780g of R12 refrigerant and suniso 4gs oil 240ml - as per factory specs.

The system works nicely when the ambient temperature is around 30c or 94F with temps below 10c or 50F all the time.

problems start when ambient temps to go above 40C or 100F, i couldn't get the data in such ambient temps because whenever I got the car, weather seemed to be friendly.
it doesn't seem to cool down the cabin to a comfortable temp under 100F+ heat, it kinda makes the cabin humid too - the system is not dehumidifying (if i can say that)

here is the data anyway - blower to MAX

at 1500RPM - ~15mins running

ambient temp: 95F
SUCTION: 30psi
suction line temp: 38F
superheat: 6F

head pressure: 155psi
liquid line temp: 101F
subcool: 18F

~30mins running:

ambient temp: 95F
SUCTION: 26psi
suction line temp: 53F
superheat: 26.1F

head pressure: 160psi
liquid line temp: 100F
subcool: 21.2F

~45mins running:

ambient temp: 95F
SUCTION: 32psi
suction line temp: 51F
superheat: 16.6F

head pressure: 170psi
liquid line temp: 105F
subcool: 20.6F

~60min running:

ambient temp: 95F
SUCTION: 26psi
suction line temp: 53F
superheat: 26.1F

head pressure: 165psi
liquid line temp: 106F
subcool: 17.4F

other things to note:
the evap housing and vent ducts get wet after 30mins of running
suction line is sweaty throughout from the evap to compressor
touching the compressor body, it doesn't seem like its being flooded by liquid refrigerant

please, any suggestions are appreciated.

Freezer/Cool room Charging Help

Hi everyone,

I have probably what will be a stupid question. I've previously worked on mostly HVAC but in my new job I look after a few freezer rooms and cool rooms.

I repaired a gas leak on a freezer room (R404A) and had a bit of trouble getting my head around charging it.

How do people what out what pressure the unit should be running at when compared to the temp inside the room?

Say, I want a -20 degree freezer room, how do I work out what SST/pressure I want?
During the charge when the freezer hits -10 degrees, how do I know what my SST should be?

I charged the freezer to a full sight glass and a 6K superheat but I was still confused as to how other technicians over the phone knew what temp my freezer was just from me telling them the SST/pressures.

Also, does the answer to the above question also apply for cool rooms, etc?

Once again, sorry for what seems a straight forward question - I'm trying to wrap my head around refrigeration and learn a bit before my next service call.

Thanks

Embraco Klixon Woes

I've got a dairy deck/display chiller, the complaint is that the temperature climbs up now and again and i have found the compressor is cycling on the kilxon.

The compressor is a Embraco NEK6213GK and tripped when running around 4.6A, the compressor temperature is about 56C.
There is no amps data on the label but a chart i found online rates the compressor at up to 5.7A depending on evaporating temperature.

I am wondering if the Klixons go weak on these? As neither the amperage or temperature seem excessive, Or any other experience or ideas :D

This is a problem we have with a wholesaler, they say that they supplied goods to us but we are sure they did not, after requesting signed advice notes to no avail they are stepping up the pressure, bear in mind the goods were not delivered it's alleged we picked them up in person as we never have had goods delivered to sites/depots does anyone know the legal implications of this?

Dehumidifier details (Eiger Doors) Help needed!

Hi Guys
Can anyone help please?
I have 4 Rapid Close Eiger Doors by Union Industries which have Dehumidifier Units fitted above them.
Which I believe are fitted as a cold store package. I have been asked by site to look at them as all 4 have issues.
Can anyone help with some info / manuals.
At this stage I cannot even supply any unit details, other than they were fitted from new. (Almost 3yrs ago)
And desperately need servicing!
Thanks Grizzly
Addendum They may even turn out just to be a fancy pressurisation unit for the pod?

I will know more, hopefully later today.
I am to go and look at them where provided I can arrage safe access I should know more?

Nope! Just checked on the Manufacturers website they are Patented Dehumidifiers!

Super heat hunting.

Hi all,

I'm working on a system that runs R22 low temp for an air separation unit.

Runs at -45c suction and about 30c head.
Head pressure stable with good sub cooling.
It's an old piece of gear with recip compressors , head coolers , liquid line sub coolers etc. Been running 20 years. So much for not using r22 low temp.?
The evap load is stable.
A while ago we noticed the super heat varying from flooding back occasionally to maybe 30 degrees.

I adjusted the sporlan valve in and there was enough of improvement to prevent flood back but still had big hunting swings.

Going back to site today noticed the superheat was still varying but at a much higher level.: 18 to 35 degrees.
The sporlan power assembly had been recentley replaced ( by others) and it's seems to be correct low temp r22 etc...

i understand a valve needs to be correctly sized with regard to pressure drop etc.....

I battling to understand whether I should be opening or shutting the valve to find my 6 degrees of superheat. ?

An oversized valve can hunt causing flood back etc....but this is high super heat hunting?

The valve could obviously be faulty. It would be a nightmare to change so I'm hoping I've either shut it to much or something easier than replacing it!

Any ideas?

Can i use 80mm panel thickness on the ceiling of the freezer?

Hi All,

Can you guys help me. I have a customer in Kuwait which want to convert their chiller room into freezer. The thing is the ceiling of this room is only 80mm polyurethane walls and floorings are all 100mm PU, he want to run this into freezer temp of -18 deg C. Is there a possiblity that there will be a condensation on the ceiling if i run this as a freezer? Is someone here tried already this one and what is the result? The room is located on the loading area of the store and temp is reaching at approximate 35 deg C.

Thanks for your help in advance
