Hi Guys, we are commercial refrigeration installers and we have been tasked with repairing a two door upright bottle cooler in Manchester. Problem is we are having difficulty sourcing a door that needs to be replaced. Any suggestions of where I could source Cresco parts?

Superheat

On a reciprocating compressor with unloaders (such as a Carrier 5H60) using a direct expansion (TXV) would one have to have the compressor completely loaded (all 6 pistons active) to set the superheat or could it be set at any given compressor stage as long as the system load isn't fluctuating. My thoughts are, all stages of loading have to be active... and then as the compressor unloads the TXV will adjust accordingly. Thanks ..

Digital scroll condensing unit

Hi
I have to look at this unit tommorrow any advice greatly appreciated
fault is its running 5 indoor refrigerated cabinets but 1 unit fluctuates in temp from 3c up to 20
another engineer reported that it only comes down to temp when the unit next to it cuts out and requires no cooling ?
Any thoughts I have not done much on these before any heads up or thoughts would be great
thanks

Pressure testing with nitrogen

A colleague mentioned the other day how he tests with nitrogen.
Usually pressure can drop or rise with different ambient temps.

This may not be a new idea but isolating pressure gauge from system while system under pressure test, then say next day pressure is checked & compared, if gauge pressure is lower than day before, open valve & check system pressure compared to gauge pressure.
If the same system & isolated gauge, no leaks.

sound feasible?

Car Air Conditioning issue RED HOT

$

Hi

I was called to service a car (Vauxhall Astra 2001 plate) and done the usual vacuum, pressure test oil / leak dye, vacuum and then re-gas and have come to a problem.

Standard R134a system

Currently suction side shows 40 - 43 PSIg and discharge shows 160 PSIg at around 21 Deg c / 74F.

When the Condenser cooling fan switches off the discharge rises to about 200 PSIg (as condenser temp rises)

Thing is the air con simply does not get cold but seems to be chucking more heat out on the evaporator side.

Checked the usual baffle plate stuck and hot / cold valve and all is correct so its not blowing heat from the heater matrix though the evaporator.

Compressor kicks in but runs constantly, if switch turned off clutch plate is released so it not stuck permanently on.

Prior to gassing I rotated it manually (as it had not been used / ran for some time) and comp turned as normal not rock solid or sticking.

System had lost most of its charge, still had about 8PSIg in it, vacuum pulled and held ok, nitro pressure test ok so no leaks.

When the system is on the condenser and receiver get red hot and I mean hot the condenser cooling fan kicks in and cools it down a bit, the discharge pipe up to the evaporator is quite warm and the suction from it is also stays warm.

I am not sure what is going on here, anyone have an idea.

Compressor seems ok to me as readings are for the ambient temp correct (give or take the couple of odd psi)

Could this be a blockage / faulty TEX valve on / in evap ?

Cheers

These days we are expected
to fill in reems of paperwork with different tasks we carry out.
There are older systems that you would expect bring up problems like confined space etc.
On new jobs unfortunately these so called highly educated idiots make dangerous spaces, not knowing what they are doing (sitting in there office on high horse).
New ammonia extension, pipework in roof, low ceiling, one point of access, pipework of all types running everywhere, fully enclosed, no ventilation of any kind, near vertical ladder access going up 2 stories.
Lets think for a millisecond, let's put pipework on roof!
Should refuse to go in there, or better yet get the engineer in there & let some
ammonia go in his direction.
Are we all experiencing same lack of foresight?
Cant believe not a law against it.
A certain spiral geezer company also renowned for it.
Build a skid then build a box around it.

Liebherr fridge-freezer using too much electicity

Apologies for the somewhat cryptic title.

I have a KGNves3846 fridge/freezer that has been trundling away pretty much fine for 10 years. Indeed I have 3 fridge-freezers (don't ask) which are all fine except for one thing - energy use on the 3846.

I am trying to be energy efficient (I know 3 fridge-freezers don't help) and bought an energy monitor. Stuck it on the 1988 unit in the garage for a month as I thought such an old unit would be a gas guzzler and it suggested about £30 per annum - obviously hot summers will use more and cold winter less but the annual extrapolation was better than I expected for a 27 year old Liebherr. Did the same on the Miele in the utility and it came out with a similar expected cost.

Stuck it on the 3846 in the same ambient space as the Miele and it seems to be sucking about 1.8kWh per day or about £70 per annum - ouch. Temperatures are fine at 5 and -18 degrees. Tried defrosting (not a lot of ice so probably not necessary) and cleaned the back (hardly any dust anyway) but no change.

Looking at the leccy monitor it looks as though the unit takes about 2.5W when just sitting there nice and cold. When the compressor turns on it goes up to about 120W just like the others but after about the same time that the others would be switching back to 2.5W or so, the 3846 throttles back to about 80W and the motor/compressor is still whirring and is hot, but not scorching, to touch. This goes on for a very long time but eventually it does turn off and leccy use drops back to 2.5W. If you were to sit and watch I reckon it could be 30-40 minutes in this mode but life is too short to do that.

I assume a thermostat, thermometer, switch, sensor or something is kaput. Anyone have any ideas please?

thanks

Gary

toshiba wall mounted split

hi all
got a problem with a toshiba split indoor RAS13SHHP-ES outdoor RAS13S2AH-ES
First visit found indoor leds flashing which my mate looked up and said it was a faulty compressor
sure enough the compressor was red hot so we left it a day to cool.next day we looked again and
you could hear compressor hum but would not run,so we changed the compressor, start relay and
capacitor.
this time when you switch on the indoor fan runs normaly, but as soon as it switches the compressor the leds flash again realy quickly.there is a 240v output from the indoor unit to the outdoor unit but only for about 4 seconds then the lights flash again.tried disconnecting compressor and condenser fan, but same thing happens.beginning to think it must be an indoor pcboard problem as there is no board on the outdoor.
has anyone had this fault and could help.
thanks doorswing

Hi guys . this unit works for few hours then stops, green light blinks 5 times. i have refer to manual, it says :metal case condenser fan motor causes the grounding of the outdoor pcb.to start the unit again ,they turn it off and then on again, few hours later the same happens, unit stops and gives 5 blink on green light; any idea?
it states if you disconnect the outdoor fan electrical connection and connect it , this will solve the problem, i have not done it yet.

Daikin EUWAB40 chiller with TRANE TRACER CH532 controller stopping without error

Hello guys, this is my first post here so please go easy on me.
The first thing i have to tell you is that i never actually saw the chiller, it being installed in a city about 3 hours away from where i'm living. All the data that i have is from pictures and from speaking on the phone with the buyer (this guy is actually listening to what is say and i can vouch for what he says)
I have a chiller from Daikin model EUWAB40, from about 2006 on R407 which worked fine till about 3 weeks ago.
At that time the buyer started to complain that every day, at 1 o'clock in the morning, the chiller stops without any kind of error and he has to go up on the building to restart it manually.
At first i thought that there maybe an issue with the compressor running hours so i found all the documentation for the controller which should be installed on this kind of chiller and after that i sent the guy up on the roof. When he got there i asked him to send me a picture of the display so i can see by myself what kind it was.
When i received the picture i was suprised to see that the controller is in fact an TRANE controller, model TRACER CH 532.
After downloading the manual for this controller i found that in the CONFIGURATION menu, the last screen is the COMPRESSOR ALARM parameter, which has the number of working hours for the compressor. Unfortunately, this screen doesn't show up in display that is actually installed on the equipment so i'm kind of lost and i don't know what do next.
Anyone experienced this issue?
Can anybody make a suggestion for a follow up?
Please help and thanks for your patience!

Electrical consumption on VRF System‏

$

i need some help from you guys regarding some electrical issues on our VRF system.
all together i have eight floor and on each floor i have different system.and below
is the total estimated load for eight floor.

1.TOTAL ELECTRICAL POWER INPUT 1Ph (kW) = 72.37 KW
2.TOTAL ELECTRICAL POWER INPUT 3Ph (kW) = 126.76 KW
..................................................................
TOTAL ELECTRICAL LOAD (kW) = 199.13 KW

now, my question is, how to calculate energy consumption on this situation
so that client reduces the estimate cost.it is not possible to run all the system
at time in Nepal.what i think is to get this load our all system must be run on
full load.is it possible if i say reduces the total load up to 80%, if i say this then
will i be safe? and will you please guide me on this situation how our system (Mitsubishi electric VRF ) saves the electrical consumption.i will be highly obliged if you kindly guide me.
waiting for your kind and warm reply.
